Sarcura appoints a new CTO to accelerate technological development and further strengthen the leadership team

Austrian deep tech company Sarcura today announced that Gerald Kreindl has joined the executive team as Chief Technology Officer.

As CTO, Gerald is overseeing Sarcura’s research and development activities. Gerald brings over 20 years of experience leading and transforming research and development efforts, spanning basic research and technology development in the semiconductor and life-science sector.

Prior to Sarcura, Gerald served eight years at Illumina, where he held various leadership positions in RnD to develop multiple technologies, manufacturing techniques, and strategies at the intersection between semiconductors and biotechnology, mainly for Illumina’s core consumables.

In addition, Gerald has multiple years of international management and leadership experience, developing and growing part of Illumina’s Advanced Devices teams in Europe, Singapore, and San Diego. During his last year at Illumina, Gerald served at Illumina’s Global Program Office, managing Illumina’s change management initiatives.

Before Illumina, Gerald served in various scientific, engineering, and business development roles at Schott Glass, EVG, and Sandoz, mainly focusing on life science, diagnostics, and consumer electronics technology development, productization, and business and market development.

Gerald earned a degree in Chemical Industrial Engineering from the Technical College in Wels, Austria, in 2001 and a Master of Business Administration for Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Management from the Danube Business School in 2019. He holds more than 20 (pending and issued) patents and has written several journal publications.
